Childhood Memories

Tastes of Nature

Experiential Family Activity

Experiential family activity - it's in your nature.

How many times have I heard people say, “When we were kids… We used to spend whole days outside. We climbed trees, got pine sap on our clothes, picked strawberries, cracked pine nuts and, generally, had a lot of fun. And today… Today our children hardly know nature, not even in our own back yard.”

Tastes of Nature

So we looked for a way to combine quality family time and nature-related experiences. We put together for you a collection of fascinating, educational, and even yummy activities, most of them can be done at home (during lockdowns, or when the weather isn’t pleasant). We have been doing these or similar activities with families in nature for several years.

A Few Words about the Booklets

Each booklet is an invitation to an experiential family adventure centered around a fruit tree or wild plant. It includes a variety of activities suitable for the whole family, useful and fascinating information along with riddles and experiments to enrich knowledge while enjoying fun activities. You will also find recipes for joint preparation of homemade goods, dishes and desserts, that will make you want to lick every last drop from your fingers and plate.

It is an opportunity to enjoy quality family time in a different way and to discover nature together, including nature in your own back yard, from a new perspective.

The booklets are suitable as an educational gift for any family with kids. They can be used as a birthday or holiday gift, or even as an activity to share during an afternoon visit with friends. They are also suitable for educational staff members who are looking for ideas to enrich their activity program.

Do You Need Another Reason for the Activity?

It is an exciting connection to nature, to a simple lifestyle around the seasons, and to an ancient and special tradition.

The plants we chose to focus on are the freshest superfoods with a wide selection of flavors and lots of vitamins and minerals.

It is also a great way to learn about sustainability and preservation of the place we live in.

And most importantly, it is fun for everyone and an endless source of happiness.

Hello, my name is Barak Sagi and I am a licensed foraging teacher, wild-herb and edible mushroom guide, wild-herb cooking workshop instructor, and a storyteller.

I started foraging as a hobby because of childhood memories and longings to my grandmother. The more I learned and took courses – the more I fell in love and connected with nature, abundance, cooking delicious dishes, and with a way of life that is full of joy. Foraging is always an exciting experience and going on an adventure with the family – makes for a wonderful story that kids never forget.

Foraging is also the freedom to know, on your own, what you can eat in nature. It is the freedom to make delicious dishes, to explore, to connect to the seasons and to simplicity, to laugh from the belly, and, if I forgot something, you are welcome to find out for yourselves.
